Maribeth Gandy

Maribeth is a Senior Research Scientist at Georgia Tech in the Interactive Media Technology Center, who does research in the areas of augmented reality, mobile computing, and HCI. She is a computer scientist who is interested in not only building interesting AR applications but in bringing HCI techniques for design and evaluation into the domain.

Over the past several years Maribeth has worked on a variety of projects with the AEL including the Designer’s Augmented Reality Toolkit. Currently she is developing hand held AR games, as a means to explore which design processes, game mechanics, and interaction techniques are appropriate for this genre. She is also co-PI on an NSF funded project to perform “presence” experiments in AR environments.

Maribeth has a BS in computer engineering and a MS in computer science both from Georgia Tech. She is currently pursuing her PhD in computer science with a focus on AR.
